Brewing is a skill related to Farming that can help many other skills. Brewing requires you to use Farming Crops to brew Potions that aid with things like Mining and Woodcutting. At level 10 you'll unlock Fermenting to make Beverages. Which uses things like Barley, Wheat and Grapes to add damage bonuses at the cost of waiting for fermentation.

A Potion's timer will increase by 30 seconds every Brewing Level. Every Potion starts with 5 minutes on its timer. This does not affect Beverages.

Beverages

Beverages provide bonuses to your combat strength, at the cost of accuracy. Hovering over the Beverage will show it's bonuses. The first step to any good brew is adding the Fermenting ingredients to the correct barrel.

Then you must wait. The Fermenting Barrels must be in your inventory to ferment. They ferment one after another, and you can ferment every variety at once. Carrying 100 or 10 for 5 hours will still yield you the same amount. But carrying a few of each variety with you can definitely help this feel quicker, and reduce lost ticks from not having anything fermenting with you. Pouring the drinks finishes the process and gives you the final Beverage.
