Magic is one of the three Combat skills in FlatMMO, alongside Archery and Melee. Players must have both a Staff and Damage + Elemental Orbs equipped to attack with Magic. Magic experience is earned by dealing damage to enemies with Orbs, at a rate of 8 XP per 1 damage dealt.
Players gain a flat +1 Magic Damage bonus for every 10 Magic levels. Some enemies are weak to magic attacks and take double damage when hit with the correct elemental orb — these are typically elemental or hybrid enemies.

Magic Gear
Staffs
Staffs are the primary weapons for magic combat. A staff must be equipped along with a Damage Orb and an Element Orb to deal magic damage. Higher-tier staffs provide more accuracy, improving your chance to hit.

Element Orbs
Element Orbs determine which enemies take double damage from your magic attacks. Each orb targets a specific elemental weakness.

Elemental Totems
Damage Orbs
Damage Orbs determine the base damage of your magic attacks. They are consumed when casting spells in combat. Higher-tier orbs deal more damage and are created through the Enchantment skill.

Magic-Type Armour
Magic-type armour increases your Magic Damage stat. Each set consists of 5 pieces (hat, top, skirt, gloves, boots) unless otherwise noted. The hat piece uses the hat slot, which is separate from the helmet slot. Players can wear a mage hat and a melee helmet at the same time.

Enemies Weak to Magic
The following enemies have an elemental weakness and take double damage when hit with the correct Element Orb. Magic weaknesses are tied to element types: use a Fire Orb against ice/fire-weak enemies, a Water Orb (or Ice Orb) against water-weak enemies, or any damage orb against enemies with a general magic weakness.
