Hardcore is an optional game mode/s that transforms FlatMMO from a multiplayer experience into a solo, self-sufficient challenge. Hardcore players must obtain every item, resource, and piece of equipment entirely on their own — no outside help is permitted.

Hardcore mode is selected when creating a new account. Once chosen, it cannot be changed.

Rules

Hardcore mode imposes the following restrictions:

Restriction Details
No trading Hardcore players cannot send or accept trade requests with other players.
No item pickup Items dropped by other players cannot be picked up.
No multiplayer bosses Hardcore players cannot join or participate in multiplayer boss fights or raids. All boss kills must be completed solo. Although, other Hardcore Players (Havent Tested 1lhc) can Join another Hardcores Boss Party.
Full self-sufficiency All items, gear, and resources must be gathered, crafted, or earned by the player themselves.

What Hardcore Does Not Do

Hardcore mode is not a permadeath mode. Dying does not reset progress, delete items, or end the account. The only consequence of death is the same as on a regular account. [This only applies to the Normal Hardcore Gamemode, not the 1 Life Hardcore Gamemode Below] The challenge lies entirely in the self-sufficiency restrictions, not in survival pressure.

Hardcore Sigils

Normal Hardcore

Upon creating a Hardcore account, the player is automatically given a Hardcore Sigils. This sigil appears as a chat icon next to the player's name whenever they speak, identifying them as a Hardcore player to others.

1-Life Hardcore

Very Similar to a Regular Hardcore Account, but if you die, you convert to a normal Hardcore account. When you chose this gamemode, you will be given the One Life Sigil. When you die with over 100 total level, a Message in chat will display, notifying everyone on how you die and what level you died at.

Tips for Hardcore Players

Playing Hardcore requires careful planning since shop purchases and personal gathering are the only sources of items. Key considerations include:

Area Tip
Early game Stock up on basic tools and food from Everbrook shops before venturing into dangerous areas. The Chef sells Bread (16 coins) and Bob the Farmer sells Cooked Steak (80 coins) for affordable early healing.
Combat Without access to traded gear or multiplayer support, invest in armour upgrades and bring plenty of food to every fight. Cooking and Farming are essential skills.
Economy Since trading is disabled, coins come only from selling items to NPCs and monster drops. Prioritise money-making methods early to afford shop upgrades.
Bosses All bosses must be soloed. Ensure adequate HP, strong gear, and a large food supply before attempting boss fights.
