Welcome to FlatMMO! Here is a quick start guide for optimizing your start as a new player fresh to the game. You should start working on Bundles to help get a grasp of the game, but you can follow this to get some early game levels, items, quests and achievements done. This will help you learn some of the things that may not be intuitive and get you going.

Starting Off Strong

First thing you should do is type /stuck - this will bring you to the area where you respawn on death (when you reach 0 health). Deaths are safe and NO items or progress are lost. After going there, in the bottom right hand corner there will be a chest - these chests are for the Stealing skill and are one-time use and provide a boost of XP and items from each one. Loot it and then click it again after it's looted for an Achievement. Achievements help you gain more Sleep Points which allow you to continue earning XP. Take some wheat for later Cooking. While you're there, right-click any item in your inventory to examine, then press F1 (One of many Shortcuts) to Run to get a few more achievements quickly. When you see any other player in-game, right click them as well for another achievement. If you see any dirt piles on the ground at any time in Everbrook (EB) or Mystic Vale (MV) early on, click on them and loot them for some basic supplies. If you receive a Worm Fossil artifact or any artifacts throughout the beginning, hang on to them in the Bank (A place for Depositing Items) as they are one-time drops and can be used for Worship XP later on.

Time For Some Everbrook Quests

Head over 1 map West and enter the home in the top right corner of that screen. Talk to Minty (An NPC) and start the Quest. Leave the home, loot the bucket and kill a Cow with it in your inventory. This will give you a bucket of milk and also another Achievement- if you die to the cow just run 1 map West and finish killing it.

Head up North 1 map , Mine a piece of Coal from the Ore Vein, chop 4 Normal Logs from the Normal Trees using your Axe. With 3 Normal Logs Craft a bucket and fill it in the well near the general store for an Achievement. Loot the Chest in the top-right hand corner of this map as well for some Coins. Go North another map and enter the Mayors House for an Achievement, then leave and steal from the Citizen a few times until you hit Level 5 Stealing (should only take 2 fails and 1 successful steal, or about 12xp for level 2). Head East until you see 3 Willow Trees, go East one more time and talk to the Cat Lady to start another Quest. Head back to the Citizen and then head South one map, enter the General Store and go downstairs to loot another Chest, and head back out.

A Quick Jungle Visit For A Chest!

Now go back up North 2 maps and talk with the Cat (from the Cat Lady Quest) here to give it the bucket of milk, and it will return to its Cat Lady (Completing the Quest). Then, talk to Ned and continue the dialogue until he lets you Ride his Boat - this will bring you towards the Jungle area Omboko. Go North 1 Map, talk to the Hunter for an Achievement, then go North once more and then East once. Loot the Chest there and then leave, either by going back to /stuck (and head back up North to Mayors House in Everbrook), or go South and talk to Ned again to head back to Everbrook.

Getting More Worship Points

From the Mayors House, go East once and then North, You should be in the Cemetery. Stepping in here will replenish your Worship points, which are used to Teleport to certain Areas and perform other functions such as Running (which will boost your walking speed for ~50 tiles), Remote Selling (which will let you sell items from anywhere in the game), etc. Talk to the Child standing next to the grave and offer to Help Find Her Doll. From there head South and then enter the Sewers. Go South two rooms and take the Doll from the Sewer Drain that has water in it near the lower left hand side of the room - avoiding the Goblins if possible, they have red names which means they will auto-attack you. Return the Doll to the Child and they will give you 10 Giant bones - do NOT bury them yet. Head back South and into the Everbrook Bank and bury all 10 Bones inside of the bank for an Achievement- this will also get you up to 5 Worship Points and you have unlocked the Everbrook (EB) teleport. Store any Items you don't want inside the Bank for later use.

A Little Bit Of Farming, And Access To The Thieves Hideout!

Leave the Bank and head East, talk to the Chicken Farmer and start the quest. Kill five Chickens and talk to him again to finish it. Bury the Bones and enter the bar, purchase a beer from the bartender and drink it for an achievement. Exit the bar and head East one map tile and plant the Wheat Seeds there to start farming. Now you will be traveling away from EB to get a couple of other things done. From the farm, head East three map tiles, then go two North when you see the Bear. Loot the chest (level 3 Stealing) on the right hand side. Put on the thieves hood and talk to the Thief Guard with the gold sword equipped, asking to go into the trapdoor. After entering attempt to walk to the East through the next map and talk to the Thief with the white name tag. Say you like to steal things and start the Thieves Hideout quest. Head back out and go South two map tiles back to the bear.

From the bear, you will continue heading East again - this will bring you into Mystic Vale. Similar to the dirt piles in EB, MV has dirt piles that have stardust and stardust seeds in them - loot these as well any chance you get and hang on to them, they will be useful for Enchanting. Head East twice until you are at the room with two blue mages and one grey mage - right click the grey one for an achievement. Head North and enter the bank so you can unlock the teleport for when you are 10 Worship. To the West of the Bank area is the Unpowered Orb source - later when you have a shovel you can come back here and dig the pile for Unpowered Orbs, these can be Enchanted at Altars to empower them or give them an element. Many players opt to do this over night, especially in the beginning as it is very slow. You will not gain much experience as it drains your sleep quickly however stacking up the orbs allows you to train Enchanting quickly which in turn makes digging orbs faster. These orbs after being enchanted are used for training Magic.

Back near the Bank, head East and enter the General Store on the far right hand side. In the top left hand corner of the general store wall there is a darker tile, click this and then go North to go outside back behind the general store. Loot this chest for some orbs and stardust. You should now be 13 Stealing. Head back to /stuck and go West one map, enter Minty's house and click the fireplace then talk to Minty to finish the quest there, then back out and head back to the Cat Lady and talk to her to finish that quest as well. Navigate to the skills menu and click on the Hunter icon at the very bottom. Assign a hunting task and see if you are able to roll a Cow or Chicken task - if you get something else just hang onto it for now, but if you get Cows or Chickens it is worth having that on prior to going to the next step.

Either use /stuck or find your way back to the cows and chickens and start killing them, saving the feathers and burying their bones until you are 9 Worship. Cook all of the meat along the way (create a fire with some Matches and a Log (press F3 to make a fire (or click the matches) and click on it to begin cooking), and either use it while fighting to heal (F2 to eat (after eating at least 1 of an item)) or just die to them and head back over to where they are. This should take a little over 100 bones. Once you get to 10 Melee you can switch to the iron sword you looted from the General Store chest previously. This will significantly increase your damage and accuracy to speed up your time to kill. If you received a cow or chicken Hunter task and finish it, you can try to roll again for another one after it's completed. If you run out of Sleep Points and stop gaining experience at any time, there is a warm bed you can use in Minty's house in the same map area. There is an achievement for sleeping with 1 sleep energy remaining, so if you notice that it would be good to get that out of the way early on. If there are people already fighting the cows/chickens, there are more cows found further West, or alternatively chickens found back to the East of EB Bank - however the initial area is easiest since its right next to the respawn point. If there are already people fighting you can try asking them to share the monsters in local chat and players typically will. Also feel free to Bank at any time if you run out of inventory space.

Once you are at 9 Worship, cook up all the food if you haven't already. You should be around you should be about 17 Melee and 17 Cooking or so. Head North up once and chop Trees for 24 logs and craft a Wooden Staff by clicking the logs in your inventory. Head up North one map tile and steal from the citizen until you have 14 Stealing, and be sure to save a shovel from the loot from the citizen. Head East to the Bank area and feel free to drop off anything (only need the staff, shovel, and damage 1/air orbs at this time) equip the staff, and go back into to the Sewer. In the Sewer, click on your air orb and damage 1 orb to equip them. Kill the Demon until you run out of orbs and be sure to save at least one demon bone - the rest can be buried to hopefully get you to 10 Worship, or close at least. Leave the Sewer with your one remaining demon bone and go North to the cemetery, ensuring you have your shovel with you. Bury the demon bone in the cemetery to be brought down to Hell. On the worship tab, click the shovel dig icon twice to be brought to the lowest level of Hell. Loot the hell shovel on the right side and then teleport back to EB. Place your regular shovel in the Bank. Head back to the cemetery to the North and then use the dig worship again for an achievement. Additionally, loot the chest in the first level for a damaged sapphire necklace and 10 ashes (burying should get you to 10 Worship). Wear this for a bit of an accuracy boost - and save any of the damaged necklaces you get for an achievement after 81 Stealing.

Head back to EB and then head into the mining area next to the General Store to get your Mining and Forging up. Prioritize 10 Forging and take 15 bronze bars to make bronze gloves - wear these and head 3 map tiles East of EB Bank and kill the stall guard and steal from the stall. These stalls refresh daily at 00:00 server time (UTC) so it is good to continue looting them daily for stealing XP and better loot from higher level stalls.

At this point you have been playing and reading along for a bit of time now, so feel free to do some more exploring or asking around for stuff to do. There is Fishing and Cooking you can level up quickly for food and coins, a few more basic quests to do around EB. Continue training Melee as well as chopping some more Trees down for arrow shafts + mining Bronze for some arrow tips to make arrows and train Archery. I also recommend getting snakeskin armour early on by killing Snakes and Spiders in the Sewer, as it has good bonus for early Archer training so you don't waste as many arrows. Continue Farming either wheat or mushrooms early on, or start buying barley seeds from the Bar as you will need a lot of barley later on after you are 10 Brewing. Continue grinding early game hunter tasks - the 4 hour timer is a minimum time to get a new task, all points and experience can still be obtained no matter how long you wait. However there is a bonus for completing it within 12 hours.

Extra Tips 'n' Tricks!

Below I will talk about extra Tips and Notes to keep in mind throughout your grinding- however most players will be happy to answer any questions or help you along the way. Happy grinding!

Meteor

Meteors are a great way to get quick Mining XP early, and AFK for Forging resources. They have no required level as they only give you ores you can mine normally. These Meteors fall randomly every hour (or sometimes stay in the same place) and the locations are player maintained through the /yell system. Type "/y !m" to see the current meteor location (or alternatively "/pm dounbot !m" to not spam the global channel). Some locations such as Pirate Isle, Desert, or Volcano you may not be able to get to right away, however places like Everbrook Farm, Everbrook Chef, The 3 Willow Trees in Everbrooks Outskirts, The 2 Bears in The Everbrook Outskirts, or Mystic Vale locations are accessible. If you need help specifically finding a location just ask in the /yell channel.

Processing Skills/Gimmick

Activities that are "processing" (like Crafting arrows or Woodcutting logs into Arrow shafts/Magic staves etc.) can be done concurrently while doing "gathering" skills, and combat - so long as your movement is not interrupted. The best example of this and most common thing to be done is Crafting arrows while Mining the Meteor , as you don't need to be standing around waiting for Arrows to finish and can get some resources from the Meteor in the mean time.

Mini Woodcutting - Guide

Woodcutting, focus chopping Trees until Level 10, then Oak Trees until Level 20. Willow Trees are the best to chop from Level 20-75 for the best XP/hr, after which point you can chop Maple Trees for the best XP/hr through to Level 100 and beyond. Once you hit Level 30, you can chop 100 Maple Logs for the Planks needed to repair the bridge to get to the Beach. In the beginning, Craft all of the Regular and Oak logs into Arrow Shafts, then maybe some while chopping Willow Trees but after you get around 10-15k Arrow Shafts, you can take a break from Crafting them and make the rest of the Logs into Staffs which sell for good Money. Once you are on to chopping Maple Logs, then Craft maple planks out of those logs as they sell for 2x more per log than Staffs.

Mystic Vale Orb Grinding

As mentioned earlier, recommended especially in the beginning to dig Unpowered Orbs in Mystic Vale overnight, or at least during long periods of AFKing. Enchant the Unpowered Orbs into Damage Orb 1s until you get to Level 5 Enchanting, and then Enchant Grass Orbs and Damage 1 Orbs until you get to Level 25 Enchanting (or stop at Level 15 and grind to get to Dock Haven by completing the bridge to the South of the Willow Trees with 100 Maple Planks and 500 Nails).

Mini Brewing and Farming Guide

Gather Dotted Leaves and Red Mushrooms for the quickest early Brewing XP. You will need 650 Red Mushrooms and 195 dotted leaves for Level 10 Brewing- killing Farmers near the Tavern or the Chef house offers great Seed drops as well as Leafs and Bonemeal. Once you are Level 10 Brewing, you will unlock Beer Fermentation, which uses Barley- and a Fermentation Barrel, (Found in Taverns) each barrel grants 1k Brewing XP, so it is easy to get it up to Level 25-30 Brewing pretty quickly from there. Keep Fermented Barrels in your inventory as they have a random chance to ferment at which point you can pour them into Beer mugs (You gain 5 Premium Beer) to complete the brew.
