Welcome to FlatMMO! Here is a quick start guide for optimizing your start as a new player fresh off the tutorial island. You should have learned a couple of basics from that introduction, however this will be laid out to optimally get you some early levels up, and quickly jumping in to learn some of the features and mechanics of the game.

First thing you should do is type /stuck - this will bring you to the area where you typically respawn at on death. Deaths are safe and no items or progress are lost. After going there, in the bottom right hand corner there will be a chest - these chests are for the stealing skill and are one-time use and provide a boost of XP and items from each one. Loot it and then click it again after it's looted for an achievement. Achievements help you gain more sleep points which allow you to continue earning XP. Drop the wheat as it is not needed. While you're there, right-click any item in your inventory to examine, then press F1 to run to get a few more achievements quickly. When you see any other player in-game, right click them as well for another achievement. If you see any dirt piles on the ground at any time in Everbrook early on, click on them and loot them for some basic supplies. If you receive a Worm Fossil artifact or any artifacts throughout the beginning, hang on to them in the bank as they are one-time drops and can be used for Worship experience later on.

Head over 1 map tile west and enter the home in the top right corner of that screen. Talk to Minty and start the quest. Leave the home and loot the bucket near the fire and kill a cow with it in your inventory. This will give you a bucket of milk and also another achievement - if you die to the cow just run 1 map west and finish killing it.

Head up north 1 map tile, mine a piece of coal, cut 4 logs, and talk to the cat lady to start another quest. With 3 logs, craft a bucket and fill it in the well near the general store for an achievement. Loot the chest on the top-right hand corner of this map as well for some coins. Go up north another map square and enter the mayors house for an achievement, then leave and steal from the Citizen a few times until you hit 5 stealing (should only take 2 fails and 1 successful steal, or about 12xp). Head back south one map tile, enter the general store and go downstairs to loot another chest, and head back out.

Now go back up north 2 map tiles and talk with the cat there to give it the bucket of milk, and it will return to its owner. Then, talk to Ned and press options 2, then option 1 - this will bring you towards the jungle area. Go up 1 north, talk to the Hunter for an achievement, then go up north once more and then east once. Loot the chest there and then leave, either by going back to /stuck and heading back up north to mayors house or go south and talk to Ned again to head back to Everbrook.

From the mayors house go east once and then north once into the graveyard. Stepping in here will refill your worship points, which are used to teleport and perform other functions such as run energy, remote selling, etc. Talk to the Child and offer to help, head south and then enter the sewer. Go south two map tiles and loot the doll from the sewer drain that has water in it near the lower left hand side - avoiding the goblins if possible. Return the doll to the child and it will give you 10 giant bones - do not bury them yet. Head back south and into the bank and bury the bones inside of the bank for an achievement - this will also get you up to 5 worship and you have unlocked the Everbrook (EB) teleport. Bank any items if your inventory is getting full however you should still have room at this point to continue.

Leave the bank and head east, talk to the chicken farmer and start the quest. Kill five chickens and talk to him again to finish it. Bury the bones and enter the bar, purchase a beer from the bartender and drink it for an achievement. Exit the bar and head east one map tile and plant the wheat seeds there to start farming. Now you will be traveling away from EB to get a couple of other things done. From the farm, head east three map tiles, then go two north when you see the bear. Loot the chest on the right hand side. Put on the thieves hood and talk to the Thief Guard with the gold sword equipped, asking to go into the trapdoor. Attempt to walk to the east through the next map and talk to the Thief with the white name tag. Say you like to steal things and start the Thieves Hideout quest. Head back out and go south two map tiles back to the bear.

From the bear, you will continue heading east again - this will bring you into Mystic Vale (MV). Similar to the dirt piles in EB, MV has dirt piles that have stardust and stardust seeds in them - loot these as well any chance you see them and hang on to either of those. Head east twice until you are at the room with two blue mages and one grey - right click the grey one for an achievement. Head north and enter the bank so you can unlock the teleport once you are 10 Worship. To the west of the bank area is the Unpowered Orb source - later when you have a shovel you can come back here and farm this. Many players opt to do this over night, especially in the beginning as it is very slow. You will not gain much experience as it drains your sleep quickly however stacking up the orbs allows you to train Enchanting quickly, and the orbs from Enchanting are used for training Magic.

Back near the bank, head east and enter the general store on the far right hand side. In the top left hand corner of the general store wall there is a darker tile, click this and then go north to go outside back behind the general store. Loot this chest for some orbs and stardust. You should now be 13 stealing. Head back to /stuck and go west one map, enter Minty's house and click the fireplace then talk to Minty to finish the quest there, then back out and head north 1 map tile and talk to the Cat Lady to finish that quest as well. Navigate to the skills menu and click on the Hunter icon at the very bottom. Assign an expedition and see if you are able to roll a Cow or Chicken task - if you get something else just hang to it for now, but if you get cows or chickens it is worth having that on prior to going to the next step.

Go back to the south and kill both chickens and cows, saving the feathers and burying their bones until you are 9 worship. Cook all of the meat along the way, and either use it while fighting or just die to them and head over to where they are to east from the respawn point. This should take a little over 100 bones, and once you get to 10 melee you can switch to the iron sword you looted from the general store chest previously. This will significantly increase your damage and accuracy to speed up kill time. If you received a cow or chicken hunter task and finish it, you can try to roll again for another one after it's completed. If you run out of sleep points and stop gaining experience at any time, there is a warm bed you can use in Minty's house in the same map area. There is an achievement for sleeping at 1 sleep point as well, so if you notice that it would be good to get that out of the way early on. If there are people taking up the cows/chickens, there are more cows found further west, or alternatively chickens found back to the east of EB bank - however the initial area is easiest since its right next to the respawn point. Also feel free to bank at any time if you run out of inventory space.

Once 9 worship, cook up all the food if you haven't already and should be around you should be about 17 melee and 17 cooking or so. Head north up once and chop trees for 24 logs and craft a Wooden Staff. Head up north one map tile and steal from the citizen until you have 14 stealing, and be sure to save a shovel from the loot from the citizen. Head over east to the bank area and feel free to drop off anything (only need the staff, shovel, and damage 1/air orbs at this time)Wear the staff, and go back into to the sewer. In the sewer, click on your air orb and damage 1 orb to equip them. Kill the demon until you run out of orbs and be sure to save at least one demon bone - the rest can be buried to hopefully get you to 10 worship, or close at least. Leave the sewer with your one remaining demon bone and go north to the graveyard, ensuring you have you shovel with you as well. Bury the demon bone in the graveyard to be brought down to hell. On the worship tab, click the shovel dig icon twice to be brought to the lowest level of hell. Loot the hell shovel on the right side and then teleport back to EB. The regular shovel can be dropped. Head back to the graveyard to the north and then use the dig worship again for an achievement. Additionally, loot the chest in the first level for a damaged sapphire necklace. Wear this for a bit of an accuracy boost - and save any of the damaged necklaces you get for an achievement after 81 stealing.

Head back to EB and then next I recommend heading into the mining area to get your mining and forging up. Prioritize 10 forging and take 15 bronze bars to make bronze gloves - wear these and head 3 map tiles east of EB Bank and kill the stall guard and steal from the stall. These stalls refresh daily at 00:00 server time (UTC) so it is good to continue looting them daily for stealing XP and better loot from higher level stalls.

At this point you have been playing and reading along for a bit of time now, so feel free to do some more exploring or asking around for stuff to do. There is fishing and cooking you can level up quickly for food and coins, a few more basic quests to do around EB. Continue training melee as well as chopping some more trees down for arrow shafts + mining bronze for some arrow tips to make arrows and train range. I also recommend getting snakeskin armor early on by killing snakes and spiders in the sewer, as it has good bonus for early archer training so you don't waste as many arrows. Continue farming either wheat or red/green/blue mushrooms early on, or start buying barley seeds from the bar as you will need a lot of barley later on after you are 10 brewing. Continue grinding early game hunter tasks - these reset every 4 hours if you cannot do the monster that you are assigned, however even after the 4 hour timer is up you can still finish the task.

Below I will post a few more tips and notes to keep in mind throughout your play time - however mostly anybody in game should be happy to answer any questions or help you along the way. I will likely add more tips along the way as I stumble on or remember them. Happy grinding!

Meteors are a great way to get quick mining experience early, and afk for forging resources. These meteors rotate every hour (or sometimes stay in the same place) and the locations are player updated through the /yell system. Type "/y !m" to see the current meteor location (or alternatively "/pm dounbot m" to not spam the global channel). Some locations such as pirates, desert, or volcano you may not be able to get to right away, however places like EB farm, EB Chef, 3 Willows, 2 Bears, or MV locations are accessible. If you need help specifically finding a location just ask in the yell channel.

Activities that are "processing" (like crafting arrows or cutting logs into shafts/staves etc.) can be done concurrently while doing "gathering" skills, and ranged/mage combat - so long as your movement is not interrupted. The best example of this and most common thing to be done is crafting arrows while mining the meteor, as you don't need to be standing around waiting for arrows to finish and can get some resources from the meteor in the mean time.

Woodcutting, focus trees until 10, then oaks until 20. Willows are done from 20-75 for the best experience/hr, after which point you can do maples for the best experience/hr through 100 and beyond. Once you hit 30, you can chop 100 maples for the planks needed to repair the bridge to get to the beach. In the beginning, make all of the regular and oak logs into arrow shafts, then maybe some at willows but after you get around 10-15k shafts you can take a break from them and make the rest of the logs into staves which sell for good money. Once you are on to maples then craft planks out of those logs as they sell for 2x more per log than staves.

As mentioned earlier, recommended especially in the beginning to farm orbs in MV overnight, or at least during long periods of AFKing. Enchant damage 1 orbs in MV until you get to 5, and then enchant grass and damage 1 until you get to 25 (or stop at 15 and grind to get to Dock Haven by completing the bridge to the south of the willow trees with 100 maple planks and 500 nails).

Gather dotted leaves and red mushrooms for the quickest early brewing experience. You will need 650 red mushrooms and 195 dotted leaves for 10 brewing - killing farmers near the bar or chef house offer great seed drops as well as leaves and bonemeal. Once you are 10 brewing, you will unlock beer fermenting which uses barley - and each barrel grants 1000 brewing experience, so it is easy to get it up to 25-30 pretty quickly from there. Keep fermented barrels in your inventory as they have a random chance to ferment at which point you can pour them into beer mugs (5 at a time) to complete the cycle.
